
Nominations for our fifth annual Inspirational Woman in Defence Award are now open
This International Women’s Day, we’re thrilled to announce our fifth annual Inspirational Woman in Defence Award.
This award celebrates the achievements and efforts of women, past and present, within the armed forces.
Members of the British Armed Forces are invited to nominate friends, family or co-workers who are currently serving, or have served.

Entries will close Friday 21st March, 11:59pm.
The chosen winner will receive £500 voucher and a celebratory award.

LCpl Natasha Day RAMC: Natasha was the inaugural award winner in 2021. Natasha launched the Defence Breastfeeding Network to provide a safe space for new mothers to feed their children in the military.
Sally Orange: Former British Army Major and Physiotherapy Officer, Sally, was our chosen winner in 2022 thanks to her extensive fundraising efforts which have raised over half a million pounds for mental health charities, including WWTW (Walking with the Wounded), Ripple Suicide Prevention and Scotty’s Little Soldier.
Liz McConaghy: In 2023, RAF veteran Liz McConaghy, also known as the ‘Chinook Crew Chick’, was named the winner after being the youngest aircrew personnel to be deployed to Iraq, aged 21, as well as the only female crew member on the Chinook for four years.
Leading Wren Lola-Seton Marsden: Last year’s winner Leading Wren Lola-Seton Marsden was crowned 2024’s International Women in Defence following her incredible personal sacrifice and commitment during the Second World War.
